Souderton-Telford Main Streets - 215-723-6627
Did you know that an Artisan Trail runs through Souderton and Telford Boroughs? Do you know what an Artisan Trail is?
We have invited representatives from the Pa Arts Experience to share with us about how to get involved with this initaitive. We scheduled two meetings for Thursday, February 9 at the Main Street office at 18 Green Street in Souderton.
The 10 am meeting will focus on how individual artists, groups and businesses can participate in this program. The 1 pm meeting will look at the trail from a wider perspective. I have invited people from other communities on the trail to join us. Now we are inviting you.
If you would like to attend, please RSVP to the Main Streets office at 215.723.6627 or by email.
Here's a map of the Pa Artisan Trail. Let's put something on the map between Collegeville and Doylestown!
Here is a bit of information about this trail from their website and an article from the Washington Post about the Lancaster portion of the Trail.
The volunteers of the Souderton Telford Main Streets' History Committee spent several intensive months working on the Images of America series book called Souderton.
The feedback from their efforts has been very satisfying. People love to talk about the enjoyment they had as they traveled through time and the community that they love. They also talk about renewed memories as they shared the book with friends and family.
Pick up your copy and support the downtown revitalization efforts of Souderton Telford Main Streets at the following locations. The price of $24 includes the cover cost and sales tax with a small amount of change so the non-retail locations don't have to keep loose change on hand.

The year 2012 marks the 125th anniversary of the Borough of Souderton. To celebrate, Souderton Telford Main Streets created a photo book entitled Souderton, published by Arcadia Publishing in November 2011.
In two presentations at the Indian Valley Public Library, Ron and Cory Alderfer will show photos from the book as well as photos that weren't included in the book. Books will be available for purchase. The Team that created the book will be there to sign books, if desired.
Souderton, Now...and Then, Part 1:

Souderton, Now...and Then, Part 2:
Sunday, February 26, 2 pm
This presentation will show Main St. starting at and including Chestnut St., Broad St., Front St. and streets on the southern end of town.
This is reposted from the IVPL's newsletter. You should really be reading that newsletter to stay on top of everything.
Cory and Ron described their powerpoint as a current shot of a building with a travel back through time showing how it has evolved to the earliest photo. This sounds like so much fun!
Food for thought
I don't know who started this but it has been making the rounds with my colleugues in the Main Street field. It is a forcast for retailers on trends for 2012. Doing business the way it has always been done is not an option for businesses who want to stay open, let alone thrive, in 2012. Read through it and see what you think. Are there ideas that you can adapt to your store or business?
2012, A Year of Change -- Top Ten Changes
1. Weekday Convenience and Weekend Experience
These will be the major drivers in 2012 in retailing. The consumer will expect you to provide convenience during the week which may mean you will need to offer different services and possibly longer hours. During the weekend customers want your store to WOW them and therefore more theatrical events will need to be organized on weekends to catch the consumer's attention.
Team Members who would come to meetings to help plan and execute events, projects and programs. Commitment is continuous and 4-5 hours per month.

You can read through the paperwork and the maps at the bottom of this article. It is broken into smaller portions but they are still hefty PDF files.
