Why is the Souderton-Telford Main Streets planning to charge for the Souderton Holiday Parade?

The Main Streets inherited this annual event from the Board of Trade. The Board of Trade covered all costs with the dues paid by their members. The Main Streets’ Promotion and Parade committees understand that all events must be self-sustaining in order to grow and to assure longevity. They take their stewardship of this heritage event very seriously and are willing to make the unpopular decision to charge commercial participants a nominal fee to cover the costs and, eventually, expand the parade.

Commercial entities will be charged a $50 entry fee with a $25 charge for each additional vehicle. Any commercial entity that is hauling a non-profit group will be exempt from a charge for that vehicle. Any non-profit group or individual in the parade will be free. The Promotion and Parade committee will seek out corporate sponsors to help cover the costs and enable the parade to grow.
