Design Committee

Each of the four working committees, have a five-year action plan with specific deliverables, such as drafting guidelines, conducting surveys, and providing professional skills toward downtown revitalization.

Mission

The mission of the Design Committee is to get downtown into top physical shape. Capitalizing on its best assets-such as historical buildings and traditional downtown layout-is just part of the story. An inviting atmosphere created through window displays, parking areas, signs, sidewalks, streetlights and landscaping conveys a visual message about what our boroughs are and what they have to offer.

The Design Committee has been very influential in a variety of projects in both boroughs. They developed the concept and many of the details for the Marketplace at Telford Station. They worked closely with the landscape architect to develop the streetscape design in Souderton. Their Design Guidelines are an easy to read and understand publication that can help property and business owners to maximize on the architectural heritage of their buildings.

Meetings

The Design Committee meets the second Tuesday of each month at the STMS Office at 7 p.m. Check the calendar for changes or cancellations.

Design Challenge Grant

Although we no longer have funding for the Design Challenge grants, our Design Guidelines are still a very useful tool. The guidelines provide an idea of how to use your building's character to enhance the businesses inside. This publication contains suggestions for both the property owners and the business owners for improvements that will enhance the business climate for the business within and the neighboring businesses as well.

Download your copy of the guidelines on a tab off the Design Committee list.

Signage

Signage is the voice of your business 24 hours a day/ seven days a week. Follow the tabs for example of good signage that speaks well for its business. You will also find local sign ordinances to make sure you follow the borough criteria for signs.
